Final Week and Return Trip Home

Our final Sunday of the trip was spent in Guyandotte, WV with 2nd Guyandotte Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Doug Spurlock. He heard the presentation when we were with Green Bottom MBC and wanted us to present it to his people. They really got excited about the ministry and prayerfully will be supporting the ministry monthly very soon. We happened to be with them on the Sunday they had chosen to celebrate the Pastors birthday so again we enjoyed dinner on the grounds.

We took the opportunity Sunday evening to drop in on the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Huntington, WV and Pastor Dennis Murello. The service was very uplifting and the pastor was very interested in the ministry of BEAMS. It is such a joy to find men of God and people of God still standing for the Old Paths. It was a real blessing.

Before we parted ways with our house parents, the Stones, in WV, we presented them with a token of our appreciation for their hospitality. I am not going to explain the plaque, but Bro. Bob Wray will understand very well. Just click on the picture to read the sign.

On our way to our final stop we saw some very interesting motel rooms. This was in Cave City, KY and they were actually working motel rooms. With a little creativity they could be made to mimick a very popular movie.

Our final stop was with Cornerstone Baptist Church and Pastor Wade Cash in Jackson, TN. We updated the folk on the work of BEAMS and thanked them for their participation. They again were very gracious and kind toward us. Thank you for helping put the finishing touch on a long, but rewarding trip.

3rd Week of our Trip

Sunday the 24th we spent with Silver Run Baptist Church of Cheshire, OH and Pastor John Swanson. It was great to be with them again. I had preached for them a couple of years ago in a BEAMS Emphasis meeting. I updated them on the ministry and preached Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. We then enjoyed dinner on the grounds. Thanks for your hospitality and care.

The evening service we dropped in on Teays Valley Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor John Smith or Teays Valley, WV. Pastor was not there, but the young evangelist did an excellent job. We hope to one day get back and share BEAMS with this great church.

Monday evening I preached in the 28 day revival at Green Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. Every year they have an extended meeting. I had opportunity to speak in their first one several years ago. We presented BEAMS, the family sang, and I preached. Following the service the church voted to take us and BEAMS on for support right then and their! PRAISE THE LORD! Thank you Pastor David Blake and Green Bottom!

Wenesday evening we were in Milton, WV with our house host Pastor Kim Stone and Liberty Baptist Church. They have been very helpful to BEAMS over the past few years by operating a Distribution Center. They have worked to get many boxes of Bibles mailed out to the missionaries. They were very receptive and attentive to the presentation and an easy group to preach to.

2nd Week of Trip

We enjoyed a great time at Bethesda Baptist Church in Wayne, WV and Pastor Roger Perry on Sunday morning the 17th. Some real good friends of our, the Napiers, are members here. They allowed me to present the ministry and preach for them in the morning service. Again, they were a real blessing!! Thanks.

The evening service we were with Abundant Life Baptist Church in Proctorville, OH and Pastor Rocky Smith. This church always makes us feel right at home. We had opportunity to help them with a water line at their camp, Camp Jerri. During my pastorate in KY I had the privilege of speaking each summer at Camp Jerri. So it sure was a pleasure to be able to give back.

We also had the privilege of attending revival service with Liberty Baptist Church and Pastor Kim Stone during this week. The evangelist, Bro. David Frazie, did an excellent job and they saw six people saved during the week.

The Wednesday evening service was a real treat for us. We had the opportunity to go back to Crossroads Baptist Church in Ashland, KY. This is the church I pastored while in KY. They were very gracious and we enjoyed a great time with them and their new Pastor Chris Rutledge.

The crowning event of the week was our Thursday excursion. While pastoring in KY every week we would sing and preach at Trinity Station Nursing and Assisted Living Center in Flatwoods, KY. We had the opportunity to go back and sing and preach for these sweet folk. A number of the "family" were in attendance and we had a great time. The clinching event took place after I shared with them our ministry. As several of these dear residents left they handed me money to purchase Bibles with!!!! A total of $35 was handed to me! WOW!!!

Traveling to West Virginia

We left on the 12 of May (my birthday) to start our 3 week journey into KY, WV, and OH. We drove 8 hours and stopped in Elizabethtown, KY for the night. Then drove on in to Pinch, WV for the Wednesday evening service. We enjoyed a great time of fellowship and worship with Pastor Vince Button and his dear folks. They were such a blessing to us. Thanks First Baptist Pinch you are great!

The next day we met with the Tri-State Pastor's Fellowship at Blooming-Dale Salem Baptist Church in Huntington, WV and Pastor Jeff Sizemore. We enjoyed a good time of preaching and fellowshipping with old friends and also making of some new ones.

Following the meeting we moved in with our most gracious hosts the Stones of Huntington, WV. They allowed us to stay with them for our entire trip! What a blessing they were to us. I will have more to say about this in future posts. But quickly let me say, Bro. Bob Wray you hit the nail on the head!! HA! HA!

Meet the BEAMS Staff

I have introduced you to two members of our staff, our Director Dr. Rene Freret and our Office Manager Vicky Smith. Now let me introduce to you our Missionary Correspondent, Michele Shelton. Ms. Michele takes care of all of the incoming requests for Bibles, keeps up with all of our missionaries we send Bibles to, goes through the many prayer letters and newsletters we receive, and in her spare time takes care of the receipts for donations coming into the office. She is a vital member of the team and we are blessed to have her. Thanks Ms. Michele for all that you do. I know I did not list everything, but I do have a limited amount of space.

A night with the Inspirations!

What a great time every had on the 8th of May when Corinth BC of Lucedale, MS hosted a BEAMS Benefit sing featuring "The Inspirations." They group sang for about 2 1/2 hours. It was wonderful. All of the profit from the sing was donated to BEAMS in memory of Nathan Pierce. The total receipts and the guaranteed funds from Corinth brought the total donation to $10,000! Yes that is the proper number of zeros! Thanks be unto the Lord for His wonderful blessings.

May 3rd and Central BC - Athens, TX

We drove over to Athens, Tx to be with Pastor Mike Gibbs and his church. On the way we stopped off in Shreveport, LA again. We did not get to visit with Pastor Sparks of Faith BC, but were able to stay in their missions house. What a blessing that was. Sunday morning we attended services at Liberty BC and Pastor Joe Brown. Bro. Joe was one of my instructors while I was in Seminary. We had the privilege of taking part in their 45th Homecoming service. Following the service we drove the 2 1/2 hours on over to Athens. We carried 69 boxes of Bibles to Central BC and they took those so fast it was hard to believe. Within 10 minutes every box was gone. Thanks you for your eagerness to used of the Lord. I was having some problems with my voice, but I think they heard enough to get excited about the ministry. We are looking forward to seeing much more involvement from this great church. Thanks again for your hospitality and care!

I Think I Survivied April!!!!!

Sorry it has taken so long for me to update the blog!! We have been extremely busy this past month. I cannot give many details of the weeks I have missed simply for lack of space, but I will try to catch everyone up with a few thoughts. So here goes!

The week following Easter we hosted the Champion College Missions Institute.
We enjoyed nine students and three adults Tuesday through Saturday. During their stay we heard from 8 different mission fields, watched several videos concerning BEAMS and other mission points, packed Bibles, attended our home church (Faith Baptist Church of Gulfport - www.faithbaptistgulfport.com), went soul winning with our home church, took a missions tour of the Gulfport area, and attended a revival meeting in Wiggins, MS. Yes we did all of that in three full days. We had a great time and God blessed tremendously!! Thank you Champion for helping make the week so special.

The weekend of the 19th we attended the wedding of our good friend Brittiany Mangham in Bossier City, LA. My wife cried through the whole thing. Why do women always cry at weddings? As men, we just don't get it! It was a beautiful cerimony and great time to catch up with old friends. Then on Sunday we visited the Haughton Baptist Temple with their Pastor Gary Byrd. This is a great church and we really had a wonderful time. The fellowship and excitement of the church was great. Then Sunday evening we dropped in on Faith BC in Shreveport, LA. This church and Pastor Mark Sparks also welcomed us heartily and we enjoyed a great message on Foundational Doctrine by Pastor Sparks.

The following week we were invovled in a BEAMS Revival with Silver Run BC and Pastor Arthur Shaw. I had the privilege of preaching Tuesday evening and had a wonderful evening. Their was great liberty and the church responded well to the Gospel. We attended several nights of the meetings and rejoiced at the great response of the people towards the BEAMS ministry.

The evening of the 26th of April we traveled over to Livingston, LA and Fundamental BC. Their Pastor, Rusty Silvertooth, was preaching a meeting in Brookhaven, MS and still allowed me the honor of filling his pulpit. We had a wonderful time and the church treated us just like family. God has built a wonderful work in these sweet folk. I tell you their youth choir sure can sing!

The following week was our BEAMS Institute of Missions and first annual Pastor's Conference. We experience a great spirit of love and appreciation as our full time missionaries and part time representatives came to Gulfport for our annual training. Monday and Tuesday we were in our new conference room and everything went splendidly. Then Tuesday evening we moved over to Faith Baptist Church and hosted the Pastor's Conference. If you would like to see some of the conference check it out at www.stevebrownministries.com he videoed and broadcast the entire meeting. We are looking forward to next year already!!!

Easter Sunday

We were again privileged to be in our home church for the morning services. Our pastor delivered another astounding message of hope in Christ which only comes through Salvation in Him alone. There were at least 15 who raised their hand doubting their salvation during the invitation and 8 came forward making public professions with several other decisions as well. It is such a joy and blessing to us to be part of such a wonderful group of people.

We also were blessed with the opportunity to be with Richardson BC in Franklinton, LA. and their dear pastor Jimmy Oalman. We were again delivering a plaque in recognition for their efforts in a BEAMS Revival which brought in over $4,000 dollars for the week. What a blessing this church is and we were overjoyed to recognize their efforts in helping get whole Bibles into the hands of new converts. These folks always treat us so well and take such good care of us. Thanks you so much!!!!

Introducing our Office Manager

In every office situation there is always that one person who is the "go to" person. They can either fix the problem or they know the place to find the answer. Well, in our office things are no different. That person would be Mrs. Vicky Smith. Her official title is Office Manager. She is tenaciously dedicated to her job and is very effective at it. She handles everything from ordering Bibles to making sure the office operates on a day to day basis. I truly do not have enough room to write about all she does. I do know this, however, she is an integral part of this team. We could not do the things we do without her and though it sometimes may not seem that way, we really do appreciate you. Oh and by the way, the flowers on her desk were in celebration of her Birthday. We hope you had a very pleasant and happy Birthday!

Sunday March 29th

We had a lot of miles to cover this weekend! We left early on Saturday morning to drive to Vicksburg, MS to be with Warrenton IBC! On the way we passed a most remarkable sign. I just had to turn around and go back to get this photo. Believe it or not, this is a shoe store!

Pastor Marvin Curtis and his wonderful people made us feel welcome and right at home! This church has been a great supporting church for many years and it was a joy for me to have the opportunity to thank them for their faithfulness. My wife fell in love with the prophets chamber! Thanks church for taking such good care of us.

We arrived early on Saturday and took the afternoon to explore the Coca-Cola museum and the Old Doll and Toy Museum! We really enjoyed a relaxing day.

We traveled from Vicksburg, MS. all the way to Natchez, MS for the evening service. A good portion of the trip we followed the Nathez Trace. This was a beautiful, senic drive which we enjoyed very much. We had opportunity to be in another church that already is a supporter of the ministry, but they were very receptive and took around 10 boxes of Bibles to be mailed. I am constantly amazed at the generosity of God's people. A great big thanks to Pastor Ray Holland and the people of Trace City BC. You are a great blessing to us and the ministry.

Please be in prayer for us this week! We are getting ready for the upcoming Champion Week here at BEAMS. A group of students from Champion Baptist College in Hot Springs, AR. will be with us for three days of missions training and participation. Pray for safety in travel and a good time for all who attend.

Introduction to our Leader

I am going to start introducing you to our staff here at BEAMS. Our Director is Dr. Rene Freret. He became Director in 1997 and has lead BEAMS from a good start of around 12 Missionaries and 50 Bibles a month to an average last year of 1700 missionaries and national pastors and 10,800 Bibles a month. Dr. Freret is a man of great passion and vision for the work of the Lord. He is constantly planning, preparing, and promoting the ministry. I have enjoyed getting to know him better and look forward to service many years with him. We could not ask for a better leader and friend! I believe I can speak for the whole staff when I say, "Bro. Freret, we love you!!!"

Another Great Sunday 3/29

We enjoyed the morning services at New Hope Baptist Church in Roxie, MS. and their pastor Thomas Foster. The Sunday School hour was devoted to the BEAMS Ministry! We showed the DVD and updated the church as well as challenged them to get more involved in the ministry. Following a good message by their pastor, the church responded by taking a good number of boxes of Bibles to be mailed the following week. We also enjoyed a great meal with these fine folk! Thank you for treating us like family. We have learned to love you in a short time. We drove over to Brookhaven, MS. for the evening service at Northview BC and Pastor Carl Adamson. We enjoyed a nice surprise as Casey's girlfriend, Erin King, made the trip up to be with us! Thanks Erin we really enjoyed it!!! This was a nice reunion for us. I actually candidated for this church before following the Lord up to Kentucky. It was good to see these dear folk again. We again showed the DVD, updated the church on the ministry, and I preached. Thanks for your care and love shown toward us. Everything is not always business. We went to Mcdonalds after service for a little fellowship and made new friends. As you can see by the photo some people will do anything for attention!

If you would like to hear from the girls (Mrs. Christy and Katie) from time to time comment and let me know. I may be persuaded to give up the keyboard on occassion! Til next time.....

Getting to say THANK YOU!!!

This week was another of the enjoyable things I get to do as Assistant to the Director here at BEAMS. I met with the Pine Ridge BC in Natchez, MS and Pastor Greg Kelly. I enjoyed this church with such a rich history. This precious church has stayed by the stuff and is still proclaiming the Gospel of Christ today. She has also been a long time supporter of the BEAMS Ministry. Pastor Kelly told me the forklift used at BEAMS was donated by this sweet church.

Sunday morning we found ourselves in Lucedale, MS to
present a plaque of appreciation to Antioch BC and Pastor Jason Howard. They held a week long BEAMS Revival and all the offerings were given to BEAMS to purchase Bibles. What a great opportunity to get involved. They raised $1,854.05 during the week. Maybe your church would like to host a BEAMS Revival! This is a great way to enjoy great preaching and fellowship, as well as raise money for Bibles.

Sunday evening I preached at Bethel Hill BC in Latimer, MS. and Pastor Billy Ray Bond. The church was very receptive and gracious to me and my family. I again had the privilege of presenting a plaque of appreciation for their involvement in BEAMS. Bethel Hill sponsored the First Annual BEAMS Benefit Bluegrass Gospel Sing on January 31st. What a time of fun and fellowship we enjoyed. Following supper, The Miles Family opened the night of singing followed by the Forresters, then Railroad Creek played a full concert. Through this and other offerings of the church they raised $5,970.50! PRAISE THE LORD!

Please continue to pray for us! We have reached 6% of our support level. We are so greatful for the two churches and one family which has taken us on for personal support. I know the Lord will bless your richly. Over the next few weeks I would like to introduce you to the great staff here at BEAMS. These individuals are the ones who do the day to day tasks which make all of this possible. I am so very thankful to be part of such a wonderful team!!!

Great Weekend with our Home Church

What a great weekend we experienced!!!! Faith Baptist Church, our home church, celebrated our 25th anniversary with a great day of activity. I have not heard the numbers yet, but I could tell by the size of the crowd it turned out great. Sunday school classes were excellent as usual. Mrs. Christy and I attend the class taught by Bro. Bennie Dill and he brought a wonderful salvation lesson.

During the song service our Pastor, Bro. Dan Carr Sr, gave a detailed history of the church. He has been at Faith for the entire 25 years. He was not pastor when the mission church started, but became pastor after nine months. He told us he surrendered to preach and was elected pastor on the same night! He also said his wife, Mrs. Mickey, was the first convert in the first service of the mission church. What a history.

The morning message was preached by Bro. Bill Riddick. He is 76 years old and was Bro. Dan's pastor when he was saved. I so enjoy hearing great men of God who have stood by the stuff for many years stand and proclaim the Word of God. Bro. Riddick did a wonderful job out of Revelation 3.

Following the morning message we enjoyed "dinner on the ground" and great fellowship with our church family. We are in desperate need of a larger fellowship hall so this was truly close fellowship!

The evening service again was very special. We enjoyed the singing of "Voices of Praise", the ladies singing group from Golden State Baptist College. They did an outstanding job and was an excellent addition to the services. Then Dr. Rene Freret, Director of BEAMS and Bro. Dan's pastor when he surrendered to preach, brought the evening message. He challenged us from the Book of Joshua 24 to choose to stay with the Word of God.

The final report had over 23 people making public professions of faith during the day! We are so blessed to have such a loving and supportive church family.

On a more personal note please be in prayer for our financial situation. We had to have our car worked on this week to the tune of over $500. We are trying to raise money for a three week trip to Kentucky, West Virginia, and Ohio, and we are still seeking regular monthly support. Please pray that God will continue to meet the needs as they arise.

One more thing before I go. Please pray for a couple of our staff at BEAMS. Mrs. Vicky Smith, our office manager, her mother fell this weekend and is in the hospital. She is doing better, but still needs our prayers. Also, our young man who packs the Bibles, Joshua Carr, was hospitalized with Meningitis this weekend. Thank the Lord it was treatable and he is doing much better. May God continue to keep His hand upon you and please pray for us!

Week of March 2nd through March 8th

We had another great week here at BEAMS! The Farsi Bible project reached its goal of $70,000 dollars this week. The Bible is currently being printed and will be ready for shipment soon! Thanks to all who participated in this awesome project. I know this made it possible for some to have Bibles that would have never had the opportunity.

Wednesday through Sunday morning we attended the Faith Promise Mission Conference at Kenwood Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS. Dr. Rene Freret conducted this conference and challenged the good people of this church to try God in their missions giving. They set a goal of $9,600 for the year and when the total promised was read everyone was amazed. They had promised $23,000 for the year! PRAISE GOD!!!! Pray for these dear people that Satan not be able to steal their joy!

Sunday evening the 8th we drove to Red Creek Baptist Church and preached in the absence of Pastor Scotty Rayburn. This church is a long time and very active supporter of the Ministry. We are so thankful for these churches who have stayed by the stuff! I really enjoyed preaching to these dear folk. They were a real blessing to me and my family.

Please continue to pray for us in several areas. We are at 5% of our needed support to be fully funded while serving on the field. I know God will continue to provide for us as he always has. I also know that many times he does it through His people. Any consideration for support would be deeply appreciated. Also, spring break is coming up and Casey will be driving in from College. Please pray for his safety. The family seems to be getting over all the sickness and being tired. Thanks for your prayers. We love you and look forward to seeing fruit applied to your account.

Week of Feb 23rd to Mar 2nd

The Lord gave us another great week working and traveling with BEAMS! We covered over 1000 miles this week! Please continue to pray for us physically as well as Spiritually.

We attended two BEAMS Revivals this week which were a great blessing. These two churches, one in Mississippi and one in Louisiana, raised over $5,000 for BEAMS Bibles during these meetings. It was truly a joy to be a part of these.

We enjoy Meeting with the Mora Baptist Church in Mora, LA on Sunday morning. What a sweet and precious group of people. They have been supporters of the ministry for some time and we enjoyed expressing to them our heartfelt gratitude for their faithfulness. Thank you so much Pastor Monk for your hospitality and for taking such good care of us!

We also had the privilege of meeting with the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Simmesport, LA. Pastor Wynn and this wonderful church are also good friends of the BEAMS Ministry. They have been faithful supporters and we had the opportunity to thank them as well. It is such a blessing to have such awesome friends in the ministry!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers! It seems Katie just can't seem to shake this cold or allergy she is dealing with and to top that she now has a stomach virus. Oh boy! We are thankful for you and your prayer support. Keep It Up!!!
